Especially the first and third Devil May Cry are still considered masterpieces in the genre. So what this collection offers, it a slightly upgraded versions of classics of a bygone era. Qualifying this port as “lazy” would be easy, as there seems to be very little effort put into it. In the PC version, you’ll even see the Xbox button-configuration for actions, no matter what controller or keyboard configuration you use. ![]() The textures haven’t been reworked, the menu’s are still in a 4:3 ratio,while the cinematics are stretched to 16:9 without making them in high definition. ![]() But other than that, there’s little improvements or additions made to the game. Straightforward portĪside the improved framerate and resolution, there’s also an art gallery that’s been added. Making their way to the current generation, the games now run in 60 fps and 1080p. They received a HD port for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, which included the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 3 and all three games were upscaled to run in 720p. While there’s also a 4th installment and a reboot, this HD Collection focuses on the 3 first games that were released on PlayStation 2. Each game in the series is a stylized hack & slash fest with Gothic horror overtones. ![]()
